Fernandez Poem by Robin Burkhart

Fernandez

Rating: 5.0

Stamp your feet, dance away
Leave me alone with my shame.
My, how your Irish green eyes cast a net
As I played your Castilian game.
The depth and the breadth
Of the pain that you left,
Profound as your whispered name,
Fernandez.

Your heart is cold as a patio stone floor.
I give you my heart but you keep on asking for more.
What for?

I'd travel a thousand miles to have you by my side.
You said you'd do the same,
But, Darling, you lied.

Beloved, I, too, can be cruel.
I gift you the tears of a fool.
