Fiery Poem by Leah DeCresce

Fiery

Quickmoving boy, you were gone as you came.
No hellogoodbye,
you came in fluid motion.
Movement, gone in shortened breaths.
I can't shake it off, push you out, no apology,
no futuristic plans for a later day.
You are gone.
Reality sets in, sinks in.
Teeth as sharp as the words you cut me with,
it bites to break skin.
Your life is the salt in my wound.
Constant reminder, consistent- remember
can't haves, won't gets, you are not mine.
My daily fight for self-survival; you are an
effortless, woman-eating, livingbreathing solider
against my cause.
Your fight, your flight, it's all in vain.
To preserve my life, I'll let you stray, but-
I'll find you.
Rekindle the fire, relive the flame.
Ignite the passion, & extinguish the hate.
