Finding Myself Poem by Samantha Murray

Finding Myself

I was not any one
I was many

Radiating confidence to you,
Reserved in my manner for them,
Relaying my opinions to others.

I was none of them
I was fractured

Foundations to a person built on lies,
Like a castle built on sand,
Crumbling into a sea of tears.

You took my pieces,
You took my truths,
You took me to higher ground.

Together we built a castle
On the rock
Solid
Whole
Happy
It did not fracture,
It did not fall,
It stood for all to see
The real me.
