Finished Last Poem by Randy McClave

Finished Last

I believe that the flags should all be placed at half mast
For all the good guys who had finished last,
For the guys who denied their own hunger and thirst
By allowing someone that they cared for, to always go first.
I think that they all deserve a special salute
Especially for them for not giving the ungrateful the boot,
And also for them being mocked or ridiculed and coy
By saving a woman's reputation, by not telling his side of the story.
He gave her money whenever it was needed
And never was he unsympathetic, uncaring or conceited,
He never wanted to see her worried or hurt or sad
But, sadly she enjoyed and relished the people who treated her bad.
He was always placed at the bottom of her list
His time and money is all that she ever missed,
And then when he thought about them being a couple
He then saw her being hard and mean and him being supple.
For all the good caring guys I will salute your flag
Especially when she has used you like a worn our rag,
I swear to you that one day with tears she'll looks back at her past
And she'll remember that one good guy, who had finished last.
