Fire Of Repentance Poem by Soumik Sanyal

Fire Of Repentance

You are my unfillable void!
I am the ruler of my kingdom,
But an unguarded shadow owner;
Knights have emptied the castle dorm.

Relentless efforts like desert men
Fuelled me to take part in war
I never counted hours to redefine
My power; never ceased walking afar.

This hunger was alarming danger; I
Reached maxima like a pendulum string,
Readily rode merry go round to seek top;
But my mass was too much for bearing!

Unlike Macbeth, I didn't meet witches,
But my eternal greed caused all to cry -
Innocence got abused by my golden sword;
Life's a poor player, I must quit and die.
