Firefly. Poem by Kevin East

Firefly.

I'm reaching out.
Lonely flower in the breeze.
A refugee on their knees.
For the lost page
Of our book.
A happy ending
Someone took.

Reaching out.
For a shell
To hear the sea.
A bell
That tolls for me.
I'm a single fallen leaf
In a churchyard of empty grief.

Searching
Silhouettes of the blind.
Dancing
Pirouettes of a crippled mind.

I'm reaching out.
For the moon.
And his stars,
That he has strewn.
Like precious dice
To entice
Us gamblers of love.
Who look above
For our dreams to appear.
Fading in the atmosphere.
Parading a raging sky.

Yet I
Reach out.
For an angel
Of time gone by.
Who sang my soul a lullaby.
Igniting
My heart with her spark.
Like a Firefly,
In the dark.
