First Frost Poem by Roger Hudson

First Frost

First frost bleaches the rooftops
Patchworks the grass
River mist merges
White with white
Wintry scene
Christmas card scene

Contrast
Shop windows full
Scarlet, nodding, ho-ho-hoing Santas
Glowing with inner light
Plastic snowmen
Cotton wool, fake snow, tinsel
Gifts galore
Muzak carolling
Grab them early
It's October
Only ten weeks to go!
