First Light Poem by Nkululeko Mdudu

First Light

First light is red,
with a gradual glare of gold.
Moonlight in bed,
brings winds like earthy wings unfold.

Beauty before pain
and pain behind beauty

(wisdom in a tooth...
please! hear the truth) :

Duty will remain
but never will we love in vain.
