First Love Poem by Jackie Chou

First Love

Asiatic version of Leo DiCaprio
at fourteen

He wafted a scent of drugstore hairspray
fragrancing the air about him

His footsteps like an earthquake
rocked the ground by my feet

I dared not look up
as the yearbook he held in his hand
slammed against my desk

With trembling hands
I opened the book to sign
wondering what he saw in me
