First Love Poem by Courtney Pare' Cox

First Love

I did not mean to love you
but one often cannot stop those feelings from developing
eyes like crystal balls knowing me without having to try
you accepted me and for me that is
all I needed

Fifteen years, my life is just beginning
the future that I am walking towards is a shadowy unknown
I hoped with all my heart that you would be a part of that

Clammy hands to my rising breast, sweet lips to my shivering skin
it was like Disney fireworks, innocent and yet explosive and magical
we made love and I felt in that moment you were all that I wanted

You came to me a look of fear and sickness glossed over your face
the words “I'm pregnant” reverberated in my head over and over
I backed away from you, this was not the life I chose
It was just sex, it was not meant to be a sentence of 25 to life
I did not mean to love you.

This was really well written. As I read this I could feel the fear and the astonishment of the situation. I loved it.
