Five a day
'You know too much', the character would say.
And always in a cold, menacing way.
Then we who watched would know what to expect;
A shot, a blow or hands around the neck.
In Eden I was blissfully content.
Open, honest, true and ignorant.
I knew the rules; 'eat what you want' He said.
'But touch that Tree of Knowledge, and you're dead'.
Now Snake Boy was a cunning sod. He knew
That handing me an apple wouldn't do.
So squeezing just a tiny little drop,
He said; 'c'mon; one try, one taste - then stop'.
And in that instant, all of Mankind's woes
Were balanced like a tightrope-walker's toes.
Below: a pit of hate and jealousy,
Lust for power, arrogance and greed.
But I was innocent and so, why not
Accept the serpent's kindly offer? What
The consequences were, I wouldn't see
‘til after the irreversible deed.
So here's the paradox, He made me pure
And therefore guaranteed I'd sin for sure.
I'm no Einstein but even I can see
It's He should take the blame for this; not me!
So when I face Him, man to man alone
And he says 'OK Pal, time to atone'.
I'll say 'I don't accept you as my judge.
Unfortunately mate, I know too much.
