Fleeting Thing Poem by William B. Deutscher

Fleeting Thing

Nobody knows this tune you see
The one with the sorry sting
Don't ask me how it came to be
It seems such a fleeting thing

Nobody cares or so they say
The time lost as its happening
And once it's gone it's gone all the way
It seems such a fleeting thing

In our little bit of day
The sun shines on through
And the calendar frays
In our cold spot of night
A kiss turns to dark
And frosts the moonlight

Nobody does everything in time
It's just a song to sing
Strip it all down to a functional rhyme
It seems such a fleeting thing
