Flight Of The Bird And The Soul Poem by Rimni chakravarty

Flight Of The Bird And The Soul

The bird caressesits feathers before the flight
It takes some time
Sits on the branches of the tree
Spend some time twittering carefree
With its pointed beak stroke he fruit
Reach near the pond and sip a drop of water with the beak
Again fly back to the branches of the tree
Suddenly with the wind it takes its flight
Slowly vanish out of sight
To ones delight

The soul too take a body to reach the earth
Enjoy the birth
just like the bird nourishing on the food, water, shelter
From an infant to a toddler to that of a teenager to a youth
Who believe truth is beauty and beauty is truth
Slowly the body becomes unused engaged in daily chores
Fatigue, boredom physical and mental stress enter the doors
When life become busy counting the plates plentiful
Gradual medicine become a part of routine food
Arrive the time to revisit the wood
In the form of pilgrimage or old age home
Alienated outcast the body staggers on the way
The sun has nothing to say
The moon too shimmers away
While the stars throw their light to call back the soul
Life has to return to its original home
The soul fly
Like the bird vanish out of sight
But is it agrand pageant of delight?
The lips smile not
The eyes moist
For they who know the soul
Life takes its heavy toll
A bowl
At times full, now empty
What was then the life's gaiety?
