Flirting With Ireland Poem by Rik Bertrand

Flirting With Ireland

My love, my dear faithful friend,
You have nurtured me from Birth.
I am in debt to you for my passions,
You are Gods green, green earth.

I had to leave to fulfill my goals,
To bring music the all the worlds souls.
To play my songs with Gaelic voice,
This calling was not of choice.

I have been away from you for so very long
And now I sing of you in all my song.
I kiss you goodnight as I lay down my pillow
And I dream of you, the wind and willow.

I kiss you when I wake from the night's sleep,
And when I am missing you I silently weep
Yes, I have cried a tear or two, or three,
For my heart yearns for your Irish sea.

I want to come back to you, come back home,
I want to caress and kiss the Blarney stone
I want to walk upon the cliffs of the western shores
And play my music under the Irish stars.

REB (MARCH 2012) because I know Rebekah is homesick
