Flow Poem by Carolyn Boyle

Flow

The first thing that I learned
when I stepped into
a little boat without a motor,
is that I'm not the one in charge.

Winds blow, currents flow
weary fools work to change them.

The next thing that I learned
when I stepped into
a little boat without a motor,
is that, by paying attention
to the wind and working with it,
I can get to where I want to go.

The best thing that I learned
when I stepped into that little boat

is to accept the invitation to
see hear feel smell taste touch
the wind and to dance with it,

and that in doing so, not only will
I reach my destination, but the journey there
will be one great big beautiful bounteously joyful ride.
