Flutter © Poem by Roann Mendriq

Flutter ©

Within a thicket, in the trees,
on sandy shores, beside the sea;
Sounds of love danced on the breeze,
rustling surreptitiously...

From my window, peering below
I smiled to see a lovelorn pair;
So lost in love, they did not know
i watched them...and they did not care..

He strutted boldly, made a play
to fold her in his soft embrace
She fluttered as he had his way,
and shyly hid her pretty face.

I smiled and sighed at love's sweet song,
their warbling lingered on for long...
