Fly Into My Open Love Poem by Violet Warren

Fly Into My Open Love

my torpid flesh reveals
that apathetic thrills
are a waste of time and mind
I am overrun
by the bloodless ones
thanks to my anesthetic friends

pump the feeling into me again
I can see a narrow love
crawl beneath my skin
and I'm gasping for air all over again

come to me
give me all of you
for I will heal thee
and make every breathe new
as daylight fades into gray
I will hold you up
and give you wings to fly away
into my open love

needles are needless dismay
but hammers are pounding away
into the flesh that symbolized grace
like a fire I burn into me
