Follow The Swallows Poem by C Richard Miles

Follow The Swallows

Squadron of swallows,
Screaming and soaring
Down Cricketfield Road,
Heralded summer
Yesterday morning.

Avian Airforce
Out on a mission
Target unknown,
Allied in union
Massing in motion.

Crowded commuters
In similar fashion
Surge through the streets
But do so in silence,
Hiding emotion.

Morning marauders
Dashing and rushing
Cram on the tube
Off to the office
Selfishly pushing.

Humans and swallows,
Birds of a feather,
Throng through the city
Heading for somewhere,
All in it together.
