Footsteps Into Solace Poem by Sven Rhoads

Footsteps Into Solace

Rating: 4.0

Behind the blue that looks out into the universe
Seeking the sanctuary of the soul
No more trying to make the best out of the worst
Only needing to take back control

Dark waters of midnight and neon burning light
Its where the wanderer resides

No velvet touch can reach beyond the surface
To calm the wild heaving pressure
When electric idols are in the eyes so worthless
It takes more than material pleasure

Sweet silence of the wilderness around
Sheds the skin and the chains that bind

Tranquility upon the unknown shore
Where footsteps lead into solace
A long hard look into forevermore
Cannot be found by the compass
Serenity crashes over like a wave
To be one with the elements of mine
No such dream for the one half in the grave
Always lost in the poisoned mind

Rivers breeze as if to call from the other side
Where limits will no longer apply

Good poem, I like the themes & concepts. You'd benefit from reading Wallace Stevens & T.S Eliot. Perhaps ending on an image rather than 'where limits no longer apply' would be more powerful. i.e 'River breeze as if to call me from the other side, The bright void through which the bird's soul flies'
