For A Mate Poem by Paul Warren

For A Mate

Always a smile sitting there with a grin
He was one of the team would back you right in
But behind the laughter there was real pain
You see it was the last I never saw him again

One night when it was too much to bear
He took his service pistol and ended it there
So the laughter has faded out and sorrow fills the air
Surely the question to be answered is help and not despair.

Such a straightforward and dismal approach to such a sad truth. Heart stopping approach as I paused and wondered of the plight of this man. Truly written in 'eye opening' fashion.
