For A Simple Smile Poem by Hebert Logerie

For A Simple Smile

I had to be funny
Like a crazy monkey
I had to crawl slowly
Like a dragon on a tall tree
To extract a simple smile
From you, in style.

I had to juggle a few balls
Like a clown in countless shopping malls
I had to make a weird noise
Like a mighty sparrow on pause
For a simple smile
For a lady, in style.

For a simple smile
I had to do everything in style
Under the smoldering sun
Under the brightest moon
A smile is a very beautiful thing
Woman, for that, I'll do almost anything.
