For Damon Poem by Sabine Borrageiro

For Damon

your gentle knock
on my closed door
transformed my life
there you stood
soft blond curls
framing your
cheeky angelic face
vivid blue eyes
bore into my soul
and as you stepped
over the threshold
the sepia tones
faded and
surreal kaleidoscopic
dizzy colours
bounced off the walls
ricocheting off you
stumbling into my
dull heart
bursting into a
million tiny pieces
making me feel
alive!
Your arms engulfed
my shaking body
and i knew that my
search was over
you had arrived
i was safe
and i was home
we left the sanctity
of those four walls
stepping boldly
into the profanity
of life
never afraid
safe in the knowledge
of our pure love
for five weeks
we travelled
in beat-up old
30 mile an hour trucks
laughing at its
slowness
sharing cigarettes
and icy fresh
peppermint gum kisses
we never hurried
because we both knew
that our road
had an end
a dead one
with no possibility
of turning back
or going forward
for you had someone
waiting at home
a road you had
travelled
for eight long years
our time together
comparatively inconspicuous
i could never
understand your
love for us both
but it matters not
now
as I sit alone in
this monochrome room
six months later
an ocean between us
and I wonder …
does she see the
breathlessly beautiful
colours
of your perfect soul?
do you even know
my gentle sweet damon
that I love you
still?

This one is so good I can see it is out off your heart.
