For Enjoyment That And Nothing More Poem by Francis Duggan

For Enjoyment That And Nothing More

It is something you may have heard me say before
I write rhymes for enjoyment that and nothing more
I add to my growing numbers of them every day
If i did not enjoy rhyming i would give it away
It could not be for money or it could not be for fame
That i do it as mine is not a well known name
And i am not wealthy or never will be from penning of rhyme
Though i have been doing it for four decades of time
I have never pretended for to be a poet
Nor do i feel worthy of literary note
I have been doing it and enjoying it since nineteen seventy three
And an ordinary rhymer is all i can be
And it is something you may have heard me say before
I write rhymes for enjoyment that and nothing more.
