For Him Just A Memory Poem by Francis Duggan

For Him Just A Memory

For him just a memory of another day
The songs of the wood birds and the sweet scent of hay
Far from the noisy suburbs where he lives and works for pay
In the high country in distance far away
A young man fromthe country near his physical prime
homesickness has eased in him over time
It was his need for self betterment brought him to the suburbs for to live
To leave family and friends and a place he love for a better life himself he can forgive
A tall handsome young man of short clipped hair of sandy brown
Feeling happy with life in the big urban town
With a pretty young woman who is to be his wife
All is going well for him in love and in life
Yet in his memory of the hills far away
He can hear the birds sing and scent the sweetness of hay.
