For Me Penning Rhyme Poem by Francis Duggan

For Me Penning Rhyme

Rating: 5.0

With little in the way of assets and money to my name
For me penning rhyme a hungry belly game
I say here again what I've often said before
I just write for pleasure that and nothing more
As a young man I daydreamed of literary renown
In the old fields of Claraghatlea by my Hometown
And though we all have our dreams and life goals to pursue
For many daydreams are not known to come true
In Spring the beauty of Nature was all around me
And the male robin did sing on the leafy birch tree
Our Earth Mother I grew for to love and admire
And of singing her praises I never do tire
She was the one who first inspired me to rhyme
When I was a younger man in my life's prime.
