For My Dear Grandchild Poem by Genese Lozada

For My Dear Grandchild

Yes, I'm weak, I'm exhausted, I'm torn, I'm dried
I'm a dumb old useless man
Seeking for attention
And waiting for a coin to fall unto my hand

But my heart is aching for you my child
For you do not dearly hear the words from my lips
You are ignoring my voice for you keep telling yourself
You have known everything about me

You do not know,
I could make bridges between the gaps of our generations
And could make history alive

That you could seek advices for the problems
You are handling on
For I have passed this troubles on

My child you should listen for the wisdom
I should pass on you
For you could pass this things
On your grandchildren too.

I am dearly afraid of the day I should end my cry
For the days I'll live are getting shorter by this time
So before it's too late my child,
Hear my voice before I say goodbye.
