For One Like Willy Chaplin Poem by Francis Duggan

One could be called worse things than a poetaster
A person known for penning doggerel rhyme
It does seem an inoffensive sort of a hobby
And never should be looked on as a crime

And I should know as I am a poetaster
I have written heaps and heaps of doggerel
With me penning has grown to an addiction
And yet my stuff not good enough to sell.

Thanks be to the powers that be for one like Willy Chaplin
The stuff I post he puts it on his site
He accepts the stuff of poets and poetasters
A song in his praises one ought to write.

He never says this stuff is not good enough for my site
As he is one who believes on a fair go.
