For You Poem by Christine Daae

For You

I knew that day would come
Sooner or later
When you two would fall apart
And I knew she would break your heart

Every second
Everyday
Trickling by the minute
I waited

It wasn’t fair
No, not fair
For you to have to choose

And I knew that when you would choose
You’d choose wrong
And the cycle would repeat

She is an angel
An innocent soul
Who knows nothing of love
Of agony, of pain
Of jealousy, of rage

All she knows is what she wants
What she needs
And how to be worshipped by others

You, who has loved her since grade school
Could not know
Could not see
Through her flaws
And you surely could not know
How much hurt she was capable of

And now
You want her back
Thinking you made a mistake
But maybe
Just maybe
She was the one who did you wrong

I am here
Aren’t I?
You still care about me
Don’t you?

All this time I was waiting
Hoping you’d see that maybe
Just maybe
I could be the one for you

I could be your muse
Your damsel in distress
The one you love until the end

And I
Could be
Made just for you
