For You (John Denver) Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

For You (John Denver)

For You
(John Denver)

To see your eyes, a gentle gleam,
To rest in arms, a happy dream.
To be the first, a morning's call,
Forever here, through rise and fall.

To live within your joyful sound,
To sing the song where love is found.
To be the wish you hold so dear,
Your every dream, brought ever near.

To sit beside your window pane,
To touch in dark, again, again.
A whispered prayer, each day anew,
My quiet thought, I send to you.

To yearn for kisses, soft and low,
To dream of sighs, where feelings flow.
To know I'd give my life's whole sum,
For you, my love, till day is done.

For you, the years that stretch ahead,
For you, the joy on life's path spread.
For you alone, my heart beats true,
For you, for you, and only you.

To wake each dawn, and see you near,
To have you close, dispelling fear.
To know you're there, though far you roam,
My spirit's guide, my heart's true home.

A reason to live, a guiding star,
To say, 'I love you, ' where you are.
To know you're here, within my soul,
Making me happy, making me whole.

For you, the years that stretch ahead,
For you, the joy on life's path spread.
For you alone, my heart beats true,
For you, for you, and only you.

Just simple words, a tune I hum,
The steady rhythm, overcome.
My life's deep vow, I lay it bare,
My love for you, beyond compare.

For You
