Forbidden Fruit Poem by Achim Wollscheid

Forbidden Fruit

You sense my gaze upon your back,
burning with longing.
You hear my heart,
beating loudly with desire,
on the border of shattering.
My feet, they grind against the ground
in preparation to pounce.
You see this despicable behaviour,
this demeanor of a hungry beast,
and continue to taunt and mock me.
I see it as a generous invitation!
I run and reach for your bounty,
stretching every fiber of my body.
My mouth, it waters endlessly
and seeks to graze and to devour.
And I take an eager bite,
and you are as I supposed.
Delectable! in fact, insightful;
you extend your warm repose.
So I rip and I tear and I eat and I eat
and before long I have reached the bitter end.
Now I look and I search, but with failure to find
that palatable existence, that piece of heaven.
All that is left is abyss.
And I have a desperation for more of your blisses.

Everything about you is crippling.
I get lost. I go blind and senseless
all for you because... you are irresistible!
You are my forbidden fruit.
I suspect God has planted you deliberately infront of me
as a part of His perfect plan.
To a point this method has worked its magic
leaving me shameful and repenting and submissive,
but as I am only a straw away from a dog
I persist in returning to my regurgitation.
What a struggle its been to resist the temptation,
a struggle that gets more far reaching throughout the day
until I find it overpowering me;
Consuming me in all my desperate ways.
Engulfing, enslaving is your sweet nectar.
But the same savory treat asphyxiates me,
and it chortles at my death.
There is no apology you offer,
but I'm forgiving of your bitterness nonetheless...

Terrifying is this neverending cycle of conquest and regret!
