Ford Capri - The Car You Always Promised Yourself Poem by Mark Heathcote

Ford Capri - The Car You Always Promised Yourself

Play me some funk like James Brown,
Hotwire my engine my heart
Paint me fire engine red, take me to town,
I've got Soul I'm-off-the-chart

She said love me like an inferno
Darling, hold nothing back
Consume me, have no fear now
I want my very own, heart attack.

She said love me till I corrode
like a battery leaking acid
Wash me, soap me, treat me splendid
Be sure to remember, I'm-not-a-commode.

Put your foot to the pedal to the floor baby
And give-it-some more wellie
I might not be a Mercedes
But neither am I some mechanical whore.

Take me for a ride Honey
"I promise you I am no "Cortina in drag".
Did you read the Add
The Car You Always Promised Yourself
The one you never had.
