Forever Rest Poem by Jon M. Nelson

Forever Rest

We listen to the lonely bugle call,
To honor the ones who did fall.
They're in the final resting place,
As we all sing ‘Amazing Grace'.

While their souls are laid to rest,
We know that they did their best.
The guns fire a salute so loudly,
Because they fought so proudly.

Everybody sadly bows their heads,
As the preacher's prayer is said.
When the speech of honor is spoken,
You can't help but feel heartbroken.

As the flag is handed to the family,
It's such a painful sight to see.
You can't help but shed a tear,
When they pull the flag in near.

We came to pay our final respect,
To those who died and did protect.
Now that these heroes have deceased,
May they forever rest in peace.
