Forged Like This. Poem by G.S Ortiz

I can take the love and abuse.
The respect and lies.

I was born to be like this.
It's the right time and I'm the right age.

I'm old but I am happy.

When I was young I knew love and pain intimately.

I struggled with poverty and wealth equally.

I have seen life and known death.

I was once here and I too will be gone.

I can take it and I can give it even more.

I've been made impervious to most places and this place or the next will be no different.
