Forget Me Not Poem by Ashlynn Hawkins

Forget Me Not

The gentle light of the silver moon casts a shadow over your face,
The wind rustling the fallen leaves
As gentle snowflakes float down soft as a feather’s caress.
I ensure you we will meet again,
As that is the plan.
I will set a goal
And keep a steady pace.

The leaves fall, as do the memories of the hot
Dry summer before.
The laughs we shared fade into an eerie echo
Off of the breeze and a lone tear slips off your face.
But fear not my love,
And most of all,
Forget me not.

Your voice is just above
A whisper, reminding me of the time we spent.
Not wanting to get caught.
But the danger was tempting.
Amazing how a summer fling
Turned into a blown out love.

But remember that when the wind grows hot
I will see you again.
No more tears to be shed,
As long as we keep that one thought.
So for now my love,
Forget me not.
