Forgetfulness Poem by Panda Parks

Forgetfulness

Forgetfulness
By: Amanda Johnson

When you forgot to say I love you baby
I should’ve picked up the signs
And when you gave me that “love” note
I should’ve read between the lines
And when you spent all your time without me on
your mind
I should’ve just walked away
I didn’t know your love would be so hard to find
When you swore that you were here to stay

You gave me your word and I believed it
So I gave you my heart and you broke it
But I can’t blame myself
Because you had to lie
I didn’t put your love on a shelf
Like you had to do to mine
You thought I’d stick around
When you’d had all your fun
Well I’m not lying on the ground
I’m sick of this, I’m done

I’ve stapled my heart together
No one can break through
It’s seen the stormy weather
Endured it because of you
