Forgiveness (Original Version) Poem by Nnadozie Okoro

Forgiveness (Original Version)

Rating: 4.8

How hard at times
To forgive someone
That you loved so much and dearly
Hard it is to believe at times
That they will be the soul who will hurt you
Knowingly the wounds it will create that no money
Can heal no matter the value it has
How hard to let go those uneasy
Feelings and memories when each time
Their eyes cast back a reminder to the past
Even when forgiveness has been given

Do you love them the same as before
Or do you love them less with half of the love
Hidden away for the fear of hurts lingers around
Like the ghost which may or may not surface again
But how do you prevent it from surfacing on the surface
Do you suppress it with a mask woven together with the
Fabrics of the soul living each day that all is fine when not

Forgiveness spoken by ancient prophets
And men of great mind
Which they never escaped for they are not perfect
Only to leave different remedies for forgiveness
So how can you forgive and let life return
Back to normal which will allow love to flow
Through that broken soul

Do you forgive on the surface?
While deep down the wounds remains fresh
Decomposing each hour by day causing afflictions
That can create shadows to those who knows nothing
But shears same roots with you only to enslave them
Or do you forgive and let days of life become the medicine
Which may take years only to be caught drifting
On that ancient ocean crystal blue on the surface
Shallow in depth for those thoughts of regrets and revenge never
Escaped the bubbles of endless cycles of convection once in awhile

Do you forgive without course of thoughts
Only the words of the soul asking for forgiveness
Believing in love for forgiveness is not complete
Without love
For change can occur in his soul making
It as pure as a falling snow
Or do you forgive with love
Only to move on for that heart won’t change for
They still harbor hatred no matter what it won’t
Be broken by power of love

So how can you forgive?
For forgiveness is ancient like men
Flows with many current determined by
Action spoken and unspoken
Only you know how to forgive

For no man can tell you how to
Forgive for no method of forgiveness is common
Only you can determine how to forgive

Forgive for life is too shot
To be wasted upon that ancient thoughts
Spoken and unspoken
Forgive for the world we call home
Is too precious to be a battleground where blood
Will channel together like a great ocean channeling pathways
Beyond measurement of your time that leads nowhere but hate

Forgive for we are not judges to decide
But time the greatest judge for she can tell the true
Remedies of those who wronged you no matter how
Deep down it cuts into your bones.
Forgive for forgiveness needs no religious doctrine
But self doctrines so decide and lent the hand of forgiveness
For it moves and breaks mountains making a world a better place for
You and me

Forgiveness is by far a more fulfilling emotion than vengeance, it's an attribute of the strong and not the weak. A well articulated piece of poetry insightfully penned with conviction. A lovely poem indeed. Thanks for sharing. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
