Forgotten Beauties Poem by Petru Dinca

Forgotten Beauties

Rating: 5.0

In the depths of my mind
lie hidden the treasures
and the beauties of the world.

They came from distant ancestors,
were added one by one
and, late, they came to me.

Where they are, nothing enters,
neither the prying eyes
nor the too dazzling light of day,
that would rob them of the mystery
wich covers them
just as the aura covers all that is alive;
they are made only of shadows
and of topaz and sapphire rays.

In the depths of my soul
rest all the dreams
and feelings of the world,
like in an old cameo.

Just sometimes,
late at night,
they come to light in barely visible flashes
- forgotten beauties -
the thoughts and memories of the people
that lived a long,
long time ago...
