Fortunes Poem by Kent Krauss

Fortunes

Fortunes can be vastly different things to a variety of people, if you care to ask
From the obvious pile of money to do with as you wish to success in a simple task
Either of which could significantly brighten your day, giving a sense of accomplishment
Which spurs you on to pass the good feeling and help to those to whom you're sent
Like the older lady you always see at a certain corner, carrying a bag from the store
So this time you happen to stop, actually say hello, a break from the mad rush for more
In the process finding out her name is Rachel, she's alone and in need of conversation
Then when you stop and talk for a minute, she's glad you broke from your inclination
To simply walk by without a glance, since she always has wondered what your hurry was
So that your time, well-spent in friendly talk before her bus arrives, warms her as little else has
