On Fire Poem by Kent Krauss

On Fire

There comes a time in most people's lives when
they're on fire about something
Whether it's involving work, an idea, or an ethical
issue that makes them sting
To the point that they're moved to action such as
writing a letter or making a call
Or getting out there telling others about it,
readying themselves to climb that wall
If that's what's necessary to get this thing settled
in what they see as a reasonable way
So that at least their small part of the world might
have a marginally better day
