Fossil Life Poem by Suren Sarathkumara

Fossil Life

Cold every wall at their right
As my heart otherwise might
If not for you, not for anything
Which you started the other night

Glances met nearly
Missed by whiskers but dearly
Your sharp eyes sought to hide
But tell me,
Didn’t they end up…
Very deep inside?

The mist, drizzle and the gloom
Didn’t they keep us warm?
Warmth just like fire
Butt tell me,
Wasn’t it anything…
But desire?

Hearts were being penetrated
Forcing your motherhood be devastated
But tell me,
from your voice of chime…
The way we escaped and confined at the same time.

Every second was repeated
During the time we retreated
Retreating to the base of life
But my love,
Haven’t you been someone’s wife?

Hearts were all heavy
Paying our lives’ levy
To meet your eyes I was dying
But tell me..
Didn’t your son then start crying?

What did you love in me?
Was that for what I see?
You watched all my mischief
And also how my heart is deep

Let’s part with a thought of beauty
Prolongation can break your duty
Might never see you its kind of sad
But my sweat love,
Divinely I took you by hand

Do you remember the last sight?
Your eyes telling me the sad good night
Locked feelings… forbidden unity
And if you see this…
Would you cry looking infinity?
