Frankenstein Poem by Richard Hinz

Frankenstein

I have been awakened
Cut and pasted
Collected bones
From charred houses
All disturbed
A beautiful creation
Instead hideous to most eyes
A monster
Far larger and more agile
Than my creator
Educated
And self-aware
Longing
But to hold
A companion
Like myself
Pursued now
To the Arctic Circle
Near the North Pole
This ship
Entombed in ice
A romantic ideal
Or misused power
I could destroy this society
But would rather sleep
And dream
Of my love
