what is it must i do to be free of you
of all expectations
dreams and desires
hopes and wishes
i must be true to me
and seek satisfaction only in myself
for only then am i free
to grow and achieve
and so i leave you
to your own pain
mine is here, inside me, you see
for me to accept
and nurture and respect
and i will only then let go
when it reaches the point
where i no longer show
this longing in me i anoint
and take pleasure in my woe
until it no longer feels such a blow

I like how the 'You' in this poem can be relatable to a million different situations. Anyone reading this intently will, instead of wondering what your 'you' is, would first inser their 'you', whatever it may be, to complete the poem and individualize it, almost signing it with their own personality. Always a good trait in poetry
