Freedoms Poem by Michael Walkerjohn

Freedoms

Closeness
sweet savour of taste
give in once
twice, thrice, then
calm beauty
given fully in the life
of freely lived
and blissful youth.

Mixed blessings
unsure of rewards
longing
for a more stable world
throughout the eve
of evenings chance
long-suffering
painful future glanced
can one
continue unwholesome
and risk the loss
of only soul
without seeing
the spirit shining
through him whose seed
is planted in man?

Clear though
our sight may seem
long ago spirit cast
the crossing stream
and on it flows
life wrapped up
in dreams
these insights
round us dance
how long
we grow with them
for life perchance
and dwell
in the peace of spirit
named by one
through all before us
our freedom gained.
