Friend Poem by David Oladipupo Olorunshola

Friend

Tell me, i need to know
Who your friend is
No, no, no
Don’t tell me, rather
Show me
Who your friend is
What you don’t see
Others may tell you
Otherwise, you are ruined
On your way
And the path to destruction

If you don’t choose well
It is a matter of time
Your so called
Friend
Will lead you astray
You learn bad manners
Everyone seeing you
Along with them
Count you as equal
Their fault, your fault

Tell that to the birds
Do you say
Don’t you know
You walk in the dark
Except the lord help you
When they go down,
You go down
With them.
Because you walk
With them
You sit with them
You play with them

The only way out
Is to walk away
Walk away, walk out
Do not make friends,
With them.
Bad communications
Bad manners,
Corrupt good manners
It will lead you to trouble
When they lead you.
Don’t follow
You need to lead youself
Far away,
Away from them.
