'Friends' Poem by Ziane Wasserman

'Friends'

We were friends, a bond so strong,
Until one day, our hearts moved along.
You became my lover, my guiding light,
My everything, my heart's delight.

But now, we're exes, yet friends, they say,
Though my heart still beats for you, each day.
I see you still, as my love, my heart's desire,
That pretty boy, my soul's on fire.

You said you weren't ready, still healing from the past,
Not over your ex, and our love wouldn't last.
But my heart remains yours, no matter the test,
My feelings unchanged, forever etched.

I know I said I didn't want love again,
But the truth is, I only want your love to remain.
No one else's arms, no one else's heart,
Only yours, my love, we'll never be apart.

So I'll hold on, through every up and down,
Through every moment, in this love-worn town.
Maybe someday, our hearts will align,
And we'll be together, our love will shine.

Until then, know that my heart remains,
Forever yours, my love, through all life's pains.
