Friends No More Poem by Mallory Horne

Friends No More

I was on the ground, bleeding.
You stopped everything and took care of me,
When I would let the tears fall,
You’d wipe them all away for me

You saw me bottle up my emotions,
You made a way for me to release them,
Out of all the people you loved so dearly,
You took time to care for me.

So my dear sweet love, my dear sweet lover.
Why didn’t I realize how much I miss you?
All my foolishness was just a cover.
I hope you realize that I love you too.

Days upon days we spend together,
Yet I still wish to watch the sun rise with you.
Months upon months, doesn’t matter ‘bout the weather.
I miss every thing about you this is true.

For you saw my heart, worn out and torn on my sleeve,
You saw my love, out there for anyone willing to take it.
So now all my love belongs to the one who made me grieve.
Now all my love belongs to the one who outsmarted me with wit.

Is it so wrong to allow someone in?
When you know its going to hurt more than help?
Their lies are strong enough to pierce skin,
It’s so sad that it’s not even worth it to try and yelp.

The same eyes they used to console you,
Now they use to tear at every string in your heart.
Your expression turns from happy to blue,
If we’re supposed to wait, then when are we to start?
