Friends (Nonfixtion) Poem by prabhakar bhatlekar

Friends (Nonfixtion)

Once in that draught-ridden
hamlet, a man left-not to
return. Leaving behind wife,
son, cow and a calf.
As time healed the minds
the boy began taking his
cattle to graze, searching
for green in desert.
At noon share his dry bread
and salty chilly with his
friend-a calf now shaping
in a bull. And one day
a sand-storm destroyed
the hamlet, throwing the
life at all directions.
Days passed...
A cattle-truck was getting
unloaded at the gate of
a slaughter-house.
Suddenly a bull dashed to
a watchman...
After long two friends meet!
Agreeing for watchman's
request, superiors allowed
him to spend a day in the
company of his friend.
Story ends...
