Friendship Poem by Michael Schifano III

Friendship

As the pieces of my broken heart,
Crumble and fade away,
I fall into the dark abyss,
For everything I shall pay.
The screaming all around me,
Never seems to stop.
The world I'll never see again,
Because forever I'll always drop.
Falling through the depths of hell,
Is the only thing I'll ever believe.
Praying for the first time in forever.
Praying that God will hear me scream.
Everything is going wrong,
Until I saw something that I couldn't believe.
Light in the way-off distance,
I wonder if it is heaven I'll see.
I tried running, swimming,
But nothing seemed to work.
It seemed as if God was teasing me.
I thought I could feel him lurk.
But he indeed was watching over me,
And soon I found my way.
I stepped through the light,
And found myself with nothing to say.
There you were,
Kindly holding out your hand.
Out of everything I'd ever gone through,
For once I felt like a man.
You have always helped me with my problems,
I have done the same.
As long as it makes you happy,
I will never shy away.
All the criticism and pain,
I take each and every day,
Just to be friends with you its worth it.
So I write you in this bed that I lay.
I dig out of my heart,
Everything I say to you.
I was so glad when I messed up,
That everything was anew.
I've told you for awhile now,
that your surely one of a kind.
Much better than the rarest diamonds,
to bad you'll never be mine.
But I know where I stand in your life,
And that position I'll never leave.
I do not mind where I'm at,
That is a promise I'll always keep.
I've poured my heart and soul into this poem.
Ironically its everything you already know.
This friendship should never end,
For as long as you hold unto my hand, I'll never let yours go.
