Frigid Awakening Poem by Pasquale DiMeola

Frigid Awakening

When laughter in the eyes wore young
With shooting stars to trace as dreams
Out of the swing set life was flung
Into the darkness of moonbeams

To guide you night and day with trust
For anyone who passed your road
Sharing your bread to the last crust
Sheltering all from bitter cold

Always lending a useful hand
Turning both pockets inside out
Helped the confused to understand
Settled the hearts of those in doubt

A lighthouse warning to the sea
The St Bernard of snowy peaks
Comforting those on their knees
Returning color to the cheeks

Yet when your world flipped upside down
And savage wolves howled at your door
The friends you saved were not around
The friends you once would not ignore

When sorrow in the eyes wore bleak
With fading stars and untraced dreams
Out of the silence so to speak
Nothing is ever like it seems.
