From A Broad Suffering To Death's Disguise Poem by John Paul Butler

From A Broad Suffering To Death's Disguise

It had been a very
Long time in coming and
Yet it happened
Incredibly quickly in the end
Thankfully so
Ceasing a broad suffering

Though in some respects
I'd already actually
Come to terms with it and
In a way grieved
It was still hard and a shock
Such exquisite sorrow

Straight away
Life without her started
From ground zero
It began one confusing
Moment at a time
In the instant she went

Though in some respects
I'd actually already
Come to terms with it and
In a way grieved
It was still a shock and hard
Such ecstatic pain

All of her things are here
But now she is not
Her face in the end was
That of a stranger
Somehow not really her
Death's disguise
